FOOTBALL: Ball State reaches offensive milestones

Cardinals lead 45-7 after three quarters

A touchdown late in the third quarter by Army ruined Ball State's bid for a shutout, but the Cardinals still hold a 45-7 lead after three quarters.

Ball State's first score of the quarter came from running back Jahwan Edwards, who ran for a one-yard touchdown. It was Edwards' third touchdown of the day, making him the first Cardinal to run for three touchdowns since Cory Sykes in 2009 at Eastern Michigan.

Not to be out done by his running back, quarterback Keith Wenning threw for his third touchdown, finding tight end David Schneider wide open over the middle for a 51-yard strike. Wenning has 320 passing yards, the most by a Ball State player since Nate Davis threw for 351 yards in the 2008 Mid-American Conference Championship Game.

Ball State has not scored 45 points since it beat Western Michigan 45-22 to improve to 12-0 in 2008.
