Ball State to host broadband forum

Ball State's Digital Policy Institute will host national technology experts Friday to discuss the rapid changes in technology.

The theme for this year's annual event is "Empowering America: Broadband's Role in Growing the Economy." The event starts at 9 a.m. at the Alumni Center.

Topics to be discussed include the state of the telecommunication industry, antitrust issues, competitive implications for industry, and urban and rural consumers, according to an email sent through the Ball State Communications Center.

A panel of industry leaders will be moderated by the president and namesake of Stuart N. Brotman Communications, who is also a faculty member at Harvard Law School.

DPI supports faculty research in areas of law, regulation and public policy as they relate to local, national and international concerns, according to the email.

The conference will be sponsored by DPI and the Internet Innovation Alliance, a group of business and nonprofit organizations that aim to provide access to broadband Internet across the country.
