VIDEO: Glass class

Starting at the beginning with ACR 231, or "Glass 1," students learn how to make things like jars, vases and bowls from professionals in the craft.

One of these professionals, glass professor Brent Cole, said that the class teaches students basic handling of the material. Students will learn how to literally blow glass at very high temperatures and push that to its limits.

Cole said most of his Glass 1 students are seniors and juniors who want to take glass before they graduate, but that he would like to target the class toward younger undergraduates.

Right now, glass classes are only open to art majors. However, Cole says the department is pushing to add community classes to the center's offered courses.
