The threat of lightning and thunderstorms tonight has caused organizers of the Late Nite Carnival to postpone the fair until Saturday, though a chance of storms is in the forecast for then, too.
The Carnival will now be held tomorrow from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Jenelle Bickel, marketing chairwoman at Late Nite, said severe weather could pose a safety threat on the rides, set up in the North Commuter lot.
However, she said the event will not be cancelled Saturday night as long as there is no lightning or severe storms.
"It wasn't something we could control, and so that was why we thought about having a rain day," she said.
According to the National Weather Service showers and thunderstorms are likely tonight, with a chance of precipitation of 100 percent. Showers and thunderstorms are expected Saturday night with a chance of precipitation of 70 percent and wind gusts of up to 30 mph.
