The Mid-American Conference is expected to announce that Massachusetts will join the conference today during a conference call with the school.
Upon joining, Massachusetts would be a football-only school, expanding the conference to 14 teams.
Massachusetts will likely remain at the FCS level for 2011 before acquiring a full conference schedule in 2012.
The school would not be eligible for bowl games and MAC championship games until 2013.
Temple and Massachusetts would be the only two football-only members of the MAC.
Division alignment is still up for discussion among conference officials.

The Cardinals will face the No. 1 Miami Redhawks. If Ball State was to win, a second game will need to be played due to the Redhawks undefeated tournament record.
