WOMEN'S TENNIS: Cardinals split weekend matchups

BSU loses to IPFW, beats Oakland over weekend

After starting the season 0-2, Ball State has managed three wins in its last four matches after their win against Oakland 6-1 Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals are 3-3 since losing to the Hoosiers in the second match of the season.

Ball State returned home from Fort Wayne, Ind. after facing IPFW Saturday afternoon. The Mastodons dominated the Cardinals, taking the win 7-0.

The Cardinals could only manage a doubles win in the match. Juniors Lauren Pickrel and Sarah Hebble won the doubles match for Ball State.

The Cardinals had a short time to prepare for their home match against Oakland.

Ball State returned home to recognize breast cancer awareness during the "Think Pink" event.

They rebounded from a 7-0 defeated to win 6-1. All five matches were won in straight sets.

Although the Cardinals had the match locked up, freshman Kristel Sanders was the only Cardinal who was unable to lock up a win against the Grizzlies. Sanders took the match into the third set, but failed to come out on top and lost 4-6, 6-4, 7-10.

Coach Christine Bader was not available for comment.

The Cardinals took one out of two this weekend, but will look build off of their recent success.

Ball State will travel to Dayton, Ohio to compete against West Virginia State.
