WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Losing streak continues for Ball State

Central Michigan led by as many as 23 in second half

Ball State's losing streak reached seven games after an 81-66 loss at Central Michigan on Wednesday night. 

The Chippewas struck in the first 10 seconds of game and never surrendered the lead.

Ball State kept the score respectable in the first half, never trailing by more than nine points. The Cardinals went into halftime down 34-26.

In the second half, the teams went back and forth. Ball State was able to cut the deficit to 59-50 before Central Michigan pulled away.

The Chippewas led by as many as 23 points late in the second half.

Freshman Brandy Woody led the Cardinals with 13 points. Seniors Ty'Ronda Benning and Emily Maggert had 11 and nine points, respectively. Maggert also had 14 rebounds.

Four players for Central Michigan scored in double figures, combining for 63 points.

Central Michigan shot 50 percent on the night, while Ball State shot 42 percent.

The loss puts the Cardinals at 9-18 overall and 4-10 in the Mid-American Conference. With two games left in the regular season, Ball State would be the No. 9 seed in the MAC Tournament.
