According to the Mid-American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll announced Tuesday, the Ball State women's softball team is picked to finish first in the MAC West this season.
In 2010, the Cardinals posted an impressive 43-16 record and a 17-5 record in MAC play. They also clinched the regular season co-championship, MAC tournament title and an appearance in the NCAA championships.
The Cardinals are led by four returning All-MAC players in seniors Lisa Rozanski, Alicia Barkley, Kate Wilczynski and junior Amanda Montalto.
Ball State starts the 2011 season Feb. 19 when the team plays Belmont as part of the two-day Austin Peay Tournament. First pitch begins at 9 a.m.
