MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Nelson named Offensive Player of the Week

Senior hit 19 kills and had 17 blocks over the weekend

Two of Anders Nelson's best performances of the year came in Ball State's weekend matches against Lewis and IPFW. Now, he's being recognized for it.

Nelson was named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The senior outside attacker led the Cardinals with 19 kills, 17 total blocks and a .593 success rate. He also had a career-high 10 block assists against IPFW on Saturday.

The offensive award is the first of Nelson's career. He currently leads the MIVA with 1.46 blocks per set and is fifth in league hitting percentage with a rate of .460.

It is the second time this season a Ball State player has earned a weekly award, the first being Tommy Rouse's award for MIVA Defensive Player of the Week.
