MEN'S GOLF: Cardinals come up short in finals

Gasser takes only victory for Ball State against Kennesaw State

The Ball State men's golf team made the finals at The Match Play in Tampa on Saturday, but walked away empty handed.

After powering through South Florida, St. Johns and Xavier, Ball State was defeated by Kennesaw State 3-2 in the final 36-hole event.

Ball State finished the The Match Play with a 3-1 record.

Sophomore Joe Gasser scored the only victory for Ball State against Kennesaw State, defeating Jonathan Klotz 4-3. Both senior Eric Steger and freshman Tyler Merkel halved their matches, while junior TJ Carpenter and sophomore Tony Lazzara each suffered losses.

Ball State's next event will take place on March 14-15, when the Cardinals once again travel to Florida to play in the Rio Pinar Invitational in Orlando.
