INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The leader of the Indiana House says Gov. Mitch Daniels has been "hands on" during the ongoing legislative session even as he flirts with running for president.
Legislators have been working on several of the governor's top proposals. They include expanding charter schools and tying teacher pay to student performance.
At the same time, Daniels has made time for national media interviews and has scheduled at least two trips to Washington for political events by mid-March.
Republican House Speaker Brian Bosma said Daniels has had regular contact with legislative leaders and has been as involved this session as during his previous six General Assembly sessions as governor.
Daniels said he won't announce a decision about running for president in 2012 until the Legislature adjourns in late April.
