Gas prices hit 2-year high in Indiana at $3.08

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The AAA Hoosier Motor Club reports that Indiana's statewide average price of a gallon of gasoline jumped 3 cents on Tuesday, bringing the average price in the state to a two-year high.

The average cost for a gallon of regular unleaded was $3.08 on Tuesday. AAA says the last time gas prices were that high in Indiana was October 2008, when prices were $3.15. That was in the wake of Hurricane Ike interrupting oil production in the Gulf of Mexico.

Indiana gas prices reached a record high on Sept. 16, 2008, with an average of $4.17.

A year ago, the statewide average gas price was $2.58.
