Secret agent improv group to give students a laugh

Mission IMPROVable, an improvisational comedy group from Chicago, will be giving students comic relief at a free show tonight in John R. Emens Auditorium.

The show will begin at 7 p.m. and is free to students. About 200 students are expected to attend, Residence Hall Association activities director Monica Hodgkiss said.

Mission IMPROVable won the Best Comedy Performance Award from Campus Activities Magazine in 2006. The group has also worked with "Saturday Night Live," "MadTV" and "The Daily Show."

Abso, a Ball State student improv group, will also be performing.

Hodgkiss said the RHA wanted to have a program all students would enjoy.

"We wanted to find a comedy group because it appeals to more people," she said. "I feel it is important because it is something to do on campus to get [students] out of their rooms."

Chelsea Wheeler, president of RHA, said she thinks Mission IMPROVable will be the event of the year.

"Students at Ball State will be able to experience a fun and interesting program and coming together as Ball State students to have a great time," Wheeler said. "The Residence Hall Association is hoping to bring as many large programs to Ball State as we can this year."
