Public invited to safety forum

A public safety information session will be held in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center this afternoon.

The forum is part of the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies assessment of Ball State's Department of Public Safety. The assessment will address the department's policies, procedures, administration, operations and support services, according to a press release.

The public is invited to comment about the department's ability to comply with CALEA's standards in person at the forum or by calling in. Comments will be limited to 10 minutes, according to the press release.

The Department of Safety, which was initially accredited in November 2007, was the first Indiana police department to receive full CALEA accreditation.

The information session is at 4 p.m. in Student Center Room 303 and comments can be made by calling 765-285-3298.
