MEN'S TENNIS: Ball State adds two recruits

The Ball State men's tennis team announced its 2011 recruiting class Thursday, signing a pair of players to join the team.

Ray Leonard is a senior at Bloomington High School North and was a state runner-up last year. This year, he did not play for Bloomington North, instead competing in United States Tennis Association national tournaments and International Tennis Federation junior circuit tournaments. Tennisrecruiting.net ranks Leonard as the No. 4 player in the state.

Patrick Elliott played for four years at Jeffersonville High School and is ranked No. 5 in state by tennisrecruiting.net. He was named all-state team this fall after finishing 25-3.

Leonard and Elliott add to Ball State's already large number of players from Indiana on its roster. The Cardinals have six in-state players this year, more than Indiana, Purdue and Notre Dame combined.
