Ball State University has received a $1 million State Department grant to help Kandahar University in Afghanistan develop economics curricula emphasizing free market principles and entrepreneurship.

The two-year grant announced Monday enables faculty members from Ball State's Center for Entrepreneurship to help members of Kandahar's economics department develop courses on entrepreneurship, business development and economic development.

Ball State says other faculty members will work with the Afghan university to improve the English language proficiency of its faculty and students.
