The University Police Department began the process of removing abandoned bicycles on campus last Friday.
According to a campus e-mail, bicycles with a very rusty chain, a missing seat, bent or broken handle bars, bent wheels, flat tires and any other signs of being there for awhile were removed from bike racks at academic buildings.
A notice for students to contact UPD in case their bicycle was missing was placed at each location where bikes were picked up, the e-mail said.
Students with questions or who are missing a bike from the tagged bike racks can contact Cpl. Michael Baker at 765-285-3009.
