A member of Sen. Richard Lugar's Advisory Board of Renewable Energy will speak on campus tonight about electric vehicles and living a sustainable lifestyle in his lecture "Creation of an Electrified Transportation World: The Energy Storage Revolution."
Bob Galyen has been working with battery technologies and manufacturing for more than 30 years and has experience in electric and hybrid car programs at corporations including General Motors, Delphi, Ford, Honda and Toyota.
Galyen is also the general manager of the Magna E-Car Battery and Materials Testing Group and chairman of the Society of Automotive Engineers Battery Standards Committee.
Michael Maggiotto, dean of the College of Sciences and Humanities, said Gaylen speaking on campus is a great opportunity for students to learn about greener technologies and how to be better stewards of our planet.
"This is a major problem of the 21st century. I would hope students would become interested and energized by the lecture," Maggiotto said. "Soon we're going to have to make crucial decisions about the way we live in the U.S."
Galyen's lecture is free for students and faculty and takes place at the Alumni Center Assembly Hall at 7:30 p.m. It is sponsored by the Alice Proctor Killey Fund and the College of Sciences and Humanities.
