The effects of a disappointing and tough loss to North Carolina on Friday night didn't keep Ball State from returning to their winning ways. Ball State defeated Temple in straight sets (25-20, 25-18, 25-22) to improve to 9-2 this season.
"We did what we had to do to win this afternoon," Ball State coach Steve Shondell said in a press release Saturday afternoon. "This was a survival match, where you have to come out, battle, and hopefully figure out a way to win. We were able to do that in all three games. It was not a thing of beauty by any means, but we got the job done."
Freshman outside hitter Whitney Heeres led the Cardinals against with 10 kills, while junior middle blocker Kelsey Brandl added eight kills.
Shondell used a large rotation against Temple with a match against Appalachian State looming in a few hours. Thirteen of the 16 players on the roster saw time on the floor.
Senior libero Alyssa Rio led the Ball State with 16 digs.
Appalachian State and Ball State meet at 5:30 p.m.
