Two men accused of robbing a Ball State student and his roommate Tuesday morning were arrested on charges of armed robbery.
Police said the victims were held at gunpoint at their Cardinal Villas apartment around 1 a.m. Tuesday by a group of four men.
The roommates had invited their neighbor "Dre" to hang out that night, and he arrived with three others. The male Ball State student was forced to his knees by a supect holding a gray, semi-automatic handgun, according to a police report. Muncie police detective John Leach said the suspects tried to locate certain items in the apartment, and the female roommate got up to see what was going on. She saw what was happening and ran out screaming.
The suspects also fled, leaving the male roommate behind in the apartment. Leach said a neighbor heard her scream and called the police.
The investigation could take days or weeks, depending on the level of cooperation from the victims and the suspects, Leach said.
Leach declined to comment on the suspects' motives, but according to Officer Kristopher Duncan's report, a "green leafy substance" and a "white powdery substance" were found in a backpack that may have been dropped by one of the suspects after fleeing the scene. An Xbox 360 was also found in the backpack, and a wallet was found in the vehicle containing identification for Blaine Payton Alexander, 23, and Jeremy McGee, 20.
Richard Vaughn, 20, was arrested Tuesday morning at a traffic stop at the corner of Linden and Rex streets. He was driving a 2001 silver Chevy Monte Carlo. The front-seat passenger opened the door and fled, according to the police report.
Leondre Cobb was arrested later Tuesday for alleged involvement in the incident.
