Two arrested on charges of suspected child pornography

Two men have been arrested for suspected posession of child pornography, one a Ball State student who is accused of accessing pornography from a computer in his dorm room.

Jonathon Hike, 19, of North Greenfield, Ohio, was arrested for two counts of possession of child pornography, a Class D felony, Rod Russell, public relations and recruiting officer with the Indiana State Police, said in a press release.

The arrest took place Monday at 3 p.m. at the Redkey State Police Post, and Hike was taken to the Delaware County Jail. His bond was set for $10,000, and he paid a cash bond around noon Tuesday.

An affidavit of probable cause has been sealed. A request to unseal the case will be presented to the judge of Muncie Circuit Court 5 on Wednesday.

Detective Chris Toney, with the Indiana State Police Crimes Against Children Unit, and Reba Grass, with the Ball State University Police Department, worked in cooperation on Hike's arrest, which was the result of a nearly eight-month investigation.

Thomas Scott, 20, was arrested Friday at 4:10 p.m. by Delaware County police officer Nancy Marvin on counts of exploitation and possession of child pornography, a class D felony. Police confiscated his personal computer and a computer shared by family members; Scott lives with his parents in Muncie. The computers were taken to the Delaware County Justice Center.

A probable cause affidavit indicates six photos were on the hard drive of Scott's personal computer. According to the court documents, these photos involved girls in different sexual poses, and one showed a boy and girl apparently engaged in sexual intercourse. The children in the pictures looked to be 10 to 14 years old, according to the affidavit.

Scott was already in jail for other charges when the photos were discovered. His bail was set at $30,000.

Neither the suspects nor the police officers could be reached for comment.
