MEN'S GOLF: Cardinals finish eighth at MAC Championships

Eric Steger named Second Team All-MAC

The Ball State University men's golf team finished in eighth place out of nine teams in this weekend's Mid-American Conference Tournament at Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.

The Cardinals carded a combined score of 1222 in the four-round event, 10 strokes ahead of last place Bowling Green State University and three strokes behind seventh-place University of Toledo (1219). Kent State University won the MAC Championship with an 1151.

Individually, TJ Carpenter's final round 72 moved him into a tie for ninth place for Ball State. Eric Steger finished tied for 19th.

Steger was also named Second Team All-MAC following the match. Kent State swept the individual awards, as Brett Cairns took home Player of the Year honors, Mackenzie Hughes was named Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year accolades went to Herb Page.
