COLUMBUS, Ohio — There will not be a sweep in this year's conference tournament match between the No. 10 Ball State University men's volleyball team and No. 13 Ohio State University.
The Cardinals defeated the Buckeyes 30-27 in the second game to tie their best-of-five semifinals match at 1-1 Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio.
This is the fourth consecutive year the two teams have played in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Tournament. The Buckeyes swept the Cardinals the last two seasons in the conference championship match.
Ohio State has out-hit Ball State .222 to .179 through the first two games, but the Cardinals out-hit the Buckeyes in the second game.
Ohio State outside attacker Shawn Sangrey has a match-high 12 kills. Outside attacker Matt Sprague is leading Ball State with nine kills.
