MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ball State trails Ohio State 2-1

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The No. 13 Ball State University men's volleyball is one game away from elimination.

No. 10 Ohio State defeated Ball State 30-28 in the third game to take a 2-1 lead in their best-of-five conference tournament semifinals match on Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio.

The Buckeyes have out-hit the Cardinals .267 to .219 so far, including a .365 attack percentage for the Buckeyes in the game three.

Ohio State has two players with at least 10 kills. Outside attacker Shawn Sangrey has a match-high 16 kills and outside attacker John Klanac has 12 kills.

Outside attacker Matt Sprague leads Ball State with 11 kills.

The Buckeyes led 21-15, their biggest lead of the game, before the Cardinals went on a 6-0 run to tie the game. Middle attacker J.D. Gasparovic and outside attacker Jamion Hartley each had two kills in the run.

Hartley replaced starting right outside attacker Eric Schulte midway through the game.

With the score tied at 26, Ohio State closed out the game on a 4-2 run.
