A three-car accident just a few feet away from Shafer Tower on McKinley Avenue held up noon traffic for about 10 minutes today.
University police went to the site to talk with all three drivers and help move the traffic. Cars in the northbound lane were backed up to University Avenue.
One of the drivers, who would not give her name, said the accident occurred when she became distracted and hit a Jeep Liberty in front of her, smashing her hood.
She said her cell phone slipped under her foot and she tried to reach for it. Although she was driving at 15 mph she still hit the car in front of her.
"At least no one else's cars were much damaged, that would've been bad," she said.
Patrolman David Huff investigated the accident and said damage amounted to about $1,500.
