Three new dining locations will be available to students beginning in the Fall Semester, including a Jamba Juice.
Elizabeth Poore, assistant director of operations, said Barnes and Noble Café will become a Jamba Juice. The Ball State University Book Store runs the café, but asked dining to take it over, she said.
Dining wanted to install something the campus lacked, she said, and it decided Ball State could use a place to get smoothies.
It will have a nearly full menu — about 90 percent — and will include all smoothie selections. Poore said Dining looked at other companies as possible fits, but decided Jamba Juice would provide the best service to students and faculty.
"I think probably the Jamba Juice is the one that most people have shown an interest in and will be a nice addition to what we're doing in that part of campus," Poor said. "I think they'll all do well."
Ball State's two new facilities, Kinghorn Hall and the Student Recreation and Wellness facility, also will have dining locations.
Kinghorn Hall will have Tom John Food Shop, a Ball State-branded sandwich bar and convenience store. It probably will serve breakfast all day, Poore said, and has a lot of flexibility as to what it can serve. It will have a vintage surfing theme and decorum.
The Student Recreation and Wellness facility also will have a sandwich shop and convenience store, though the store will be smaller. Poore said Ball State is in the process of signing a contract with a chain sandwich restaurant to fill the space.
The convenience store will have items that people would be interested in while working out, she said, such as bottled water and protein bars.
