Delta Zeta sorority hopes to bring the greek community out to the first Greek Sportswear Sale, where academic, business and service organizations can buy clothing displaying their letters.
The sale is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the L.A. Pittenger Student Center Ballroom where the Greek community can display and buy their greek letters at the event.
Delta Zeta is bringing Meder Special-tees, a company specializing in custom clothing creations, to help bring Greek spirit to campus. At the sale, students can buy customizable T-shirts, sweatshirts, tank tops and jackets displaying a variety of greek letters.
Delta Zeta member Abby Chermely said everyone likes to wear their organization's letters and the sale is one of the best ways to get them.
"We don't really have somewhere on campus to buy lettered clothes," she said. "Rather than buying them on the Internet, we thought we'd bring it here."
Delta Zeta publicity chair Kassi Bradley said the event is important because it can help increase the size of the Ball State University greek life on campus by raising money for sorority houses.
"With the success of events like this and the option for sorority houses, we could possibly be as big as Indiana University."
The money raised at the event will be going to Delta Zeta's sorority housing fund, part of the Greek Village Project exploring the idea of creating a Greek Village near campus, which would include sororities. Members hope that if the event is successful, they can bring the sale to campus every year, benefiting not only Delta Zeta, but the whole greek community.
The event will have letters for every sorority and fraternity and if it is not available at the table the items can be paid for and shipped to the customer within 10 to 14 business days. Cash and checks are accepted at the sale.
