SOFTBALL: Ball State, Milian earn another shutout

Cardinals complete play in DeMarini Invite today pending weather conditions

A little snow may slow the Ball State University softball team, but it certainly did not stop the Cardinals and pitcher Elizabeth Milian from pitching another shutout.

Ball State blanked the University of Northern Colorado, 5-0, in their third game of the DeMarini Invitational in Columbia, Mo. The Cardinals' first game of the day against Eastern Michigan University was canceled due to snowy weather conditions.

Ball State and Northern Colorado, however, were able to play their game indoors within Devine Pavilion. The move didn't distract Milian, who pitched her eighth shutout of the season and allowed just one baserunner the whole day. She also struck out six Northern Colorado batters.

Third baseman Jessie Ware went 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI at the plate for Ball State (17-6). Catcher Amanda Montalto, meanwhile, had a two-RBI double in the game.

The Cardinals are scheduled to wrap up play in the DeMarini Invitational today against Northern Colorado and No. 3 Missouri, which Ball State upset Friday evening. Should the facility not be cleared to play today, however, both games for the Cardinals will be canceled.
