MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ball State gets swept at home against No. 3 Cal State Northridge

The Ball State University men's volleyball team lost to No. 3 Cal State Northridge University 30-22, 30-24, 30-28 in the Don Shondell Challenge on Friday at Worthen Arena.

The Matadors out-hit the Cardinals .264 to .157 and had two players finish the match with more than 10 kills. Middle attacker Kevin McKniff had a match-high 13 kills, including five in the first game.

Outside attacker Eric Schulte led Ball State with eight kills. Starting for freshman Jamion Hartley at the right outside attacker position, Schulte also had a match-high 10 digs.

This was the fourth match Schulte, a senior, has started this season.

With this loss, Ball State (12-8, 4-4 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) remains winless against national ranked teams this season.

The Cardinals and Matadors will conclude their two-match series in the Don Shondell Challenge at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Worthen Arena.
