Phi Delta Theta fraternity and the Student Government Association are working together to bring Adam Ritz, former X-103 disc jockey, to Ball State University.
The event will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Art and Journalism Building Room 175 and will be free.
Caleb Whitmer, treasurer of Phi Delta Theta, said Ritz was a friend of an alumnus and came to speak to a Ball State fraternity last spring.
Ritz will speak about negative effects of alcohol usage, citing his own experiences. He will also promote some of his work during the presentations, Whitmer said.
Ritz is a graduate of Purdue University and a member of a greek organization with a chapter on campus at Ball State.
In December 2003, Ritz was arrested for sexually assaulting his children's 22-year-old baby sitter while intoxicated. He now travels to college campuses across the country to inform students about dangers of excessive drinking.
SGA Treasurer Nick Turner submitted the application to the Office of Student Life to have Ritz visit again. SGA sponsored Ritz for $1,500. Turner said he encourages other students to research Ritz to understand his situation.
Turner has a friend whose sister got into a car accident because of alcohol. The person riding with her was put into a vegetative state and was later taken off life support, he said.
"It can happen to anyone," Turner said. "A lot of people are like me in that they know someone in some way who has been affected by this. [Ritz] can shed some light on the issue."
