Ball State launches new wireless network

A new wireless network called "bsusecure" is now available to all Ball State University students, faculty and staff.

The new network provides faster download speeds, automatic encryption and fewer logins. The network is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP, Mac OS X and Unbuntu Linux. It is also compatible with Wi-Fi devices including the iPhone, iPod Touch and Motorola Droid.

Go to bsu.edu/securewireless to find instructions on how to connect your wireless device to the new wireless network. Call the Unified Technology Support Help Desk at 765-285-1517 or e-mail helpdesk@bsu.edu for more help.

What: bsusecure is the name of a new wireless network provided by Network Services which will make the logon process easier and less frequent.

Who: Ball State students, faculty and staff who have BSU accounts will have access to the new network.

When: The wireless network launched Tuesday morning. An e-mail was sent to Ball State students, staff and faculty encouraging them to connect their wireless devices to the new network.

Where: The wireless network will continue to cover only the Ball State campus, including administrative and academic buildings as well as residence halls.

How: Instructions for connecting to the network can be found at the University's computing services Web site at bsu.edu/securewireless.
