Police were at the Scramble Light directing traffic today after a wire on the lights got loose. The problem was detected by the controller, which sent a signal to the lights to blink red. Workers from the city of Muncie repaired the damage.
The problem could have been caused by wind, superintendent of public works Peter Heuer said.
"A group of maintenance workers were sent out and made sure nothing else was going wrong," he said. "The lights are now good to go."
Heuer said when there are malfunctions on the Scramble Light pedestrians should treat the intersection like any other, crossing a street at a time and respecting the four-way stops.
