A winter storm warning has been extended until 7 p.m. this evening for central Indiana including Muncie, where another inch of snow and strong winds will combine to produce hazardous conditions, the National Weather Service said.
Blowing and falling snow made roads extremely slick, particularly on Interstate 69, where driving and passing lanes are wet and slick, conditions that continue this evening as the temperature drops, Indiana State Police said.
Since 5:30 a.m. troopers have investigated 22 slide-offs, nine property-damage crashes and five minor personal-injury crashes on I-69 in Delaware and Grant counties, state police said.
The weather service recommends drivers keep an extra flashlight, food and water in their vehicles in case of emergency.
