UPDATE: Muncie continues working to become cultural district

Muncie may have lost its bid for to have areas of the city certified by the state as a Cultral District, but the Muncie community has not lost its hope for next year.

"We are blessed a community as a whole," said Cheryl Crowder, director of events for Downtown Development. "We have some real treasures here. The Ball State Museum of Art is a great place. When you look at the number of galleries you can see when you visit it shows we are well on our way to have the fabric as a cultural community."

Muncie applied for the program through the Indiana Arts Commission in fall 2009, along with six other communities.
