Students looking to spend a night laughing rather than studying can see a performance by a traveling comedy troupe.
University Program Board is bringing comedy troupe Laugh Out Loud to Pruis Hall tonight.
The group performs at its own theater in Chicago and travels around the Midwest as well. It has performed at several schools before, but this will be its first time at Ball State.
Dillon Kimmel, vice president of marketing for UPB, said the group wanted to book a person or group who wasn't necessarily a standard comedian. Kimmel is also a columnist for the Daily News.
"We wanted to go outside the box a little bit," he said.
Kimmel said Laugh Out Loud compares itself to the comedy show "Whose Line is it Anyway?" and the show will be rated PG-13.
"They pull people on the stage and they enlist the help of the audience in doing their show," Kimmel said. "Every show is different and it kind of depends on what the audience wants out of it."
Kimmel also said the troupe has music during the show.
He said UPB expects 400 to 600 people at the show. UPB chose to hold the event as a way for students to relax and escape from midterms.
"The tests are starting to get into full swing and students are starting to get really stressed out so we just encourage people to take a night off and to come and just kind of enjoy themselves for an evening," Kimmel said.
