MEN'S BASKETBALL: Point guard Davis named MAC West Player of the Week

The award is the first in the sophomore's career

The Mid-American Conference Monday afternoon announced that Ball State University's Randy Davis was named the MAC West Division Player of the Week.

The weekly award is the first of the sophomore point guard's career.

Davis began his week on Wednesday by scoring a career-high 24 points, collecting five rebounds and dishing out five assists in the Cardinals' 69-63 win over Central Michigan University at Worthen Arena. The win, led by Davis, gave Ball State an effective two-game lead in the MAC West with three conference games to go in the regular season.

Davis then had 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists in Ball State's 68-52 non-conference win Saturday against the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Since MAC play began for the Cardinals, Davis leads the team in scoring at 12.2 points per game.

Ball State next plays host to Eastern Michigan University for a 7 p.m. tipoff Wednesday at Worthen Arena – the final home game of the regular season for the Cardinals.
