FOOTBALL: Defensive coordinator announces retirement

Graber cites family issues as reason for leaving

Defensive coordinator Doug Graber announced Monday he will retire after one year at Ball State University.

Graber cited family issues as the reason for his decision. The 63-year old has been a football coach for 35 years, coaching teams including Rutgers University, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Jets. He was hired by coach Stan Parrish last year for his second stint in Muncie. Graber also was an assistant coach at Ball State from 1976-1977.

Parrish said he will begin the search for a new defensive coordinator immediately in a press release.
