Discussion about military life for students today

The Multicultural Center is encouraging conversation at Soldier, Student, Civilian, a lecture about college life and life in the military.

Veterans, ROTC members and their families will speak about their experiences at 7:30 p.m. in the Art and Journalism Building Room 175. The audience can learn about life on a college campus from three different perspectives.

Everything from relationships, deployment, service and homework will open doors for discussion with the panel and audience members.

Multicultural Advisor Paul Starr said the audience should come with an open mind to understand what it's like for a member of the military.

The center's primary goal is appreciating and promoting cultural diversity as well as encouraging discussion about social and racial issues, according to their Web site.

Starr said they wanted to address campus military members' interest in opening a dialogue about life on campus.

With so many members of the military on campus, Starr realized the population should be recognized.

"We want to see students encouraging students," Starr said.
