Students can escape the cold and fill their stomachs with homemade chili at the all-you-can-eat Chili Night by Dance Marathon at 5 p.m. today at the FIJI house.
The Chili Night is an opportunity for students to grab dinner and learn more about Dance Marathon, which starts Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following day.
President of Dance Marathon Kelli Martin said the Chili Night is the last event until Dance Marathon and the group is encouraging everyone to stop by.
The Facebook group for the event has more than 140 confirmed guests.
President of FIJI Joe Edwards said that with the volume of people expected to attend the event, they are prepared to accommodate everyone that wants to stop by.
Edwards didn't know about the need for a location for the dinner until Michael Bramer, fraternity member and Dance Marathon executive, proposed the idea.
"We really respect what Dance Marathon is doing, raising money for Riley," he said. "It was a great way for us to help when they really needed it. We are trying to support one of the philanthropies on campus as well as our brothers that are involved in it."
Bramer also enlisted the help of his mother, who will cook the chili for the event.
The dinner costs $7 without a coupon or $5 with a coupon. Coupons were given out at the Atrium in the Art and Journalism Building last week, but Martin says they can be obtained from anyone from Dance Marathon.
With only a few weeks left of registration, student involvement in this year's Dance Marathon has doubled from last year's event and the group is still hoping for more participants.
All the money from the fundraiser will go to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis along with money raised from the Dance Marathon later this month.
