ATHENS, Ohio -- A' layup from sophomore center Jarrod Jones with 2.1 seconds remaining gave the Ball State University men's basketball team a 67-66 overtime win over host Ohio University Sunday afternoon at the Bobcats' Convocation Center.
The Cardinals are now on a season-high-tying three-game winning streak and have won five out of their last six games. The three wins against Mid-American Conference East Division opponents officially supasses last year's total of two, as Ball State is now 3-0 in cross-divisional matchups this season.
Senior forward Terrence Watson led all players with 20 points and 16 rebounds -- both career-highs -- for the Cardinals (11-9, 5-3 MAC). Jones turned around a scoreless first half with 12 points and five rebounds. Senior guard Brawley Chisholm and sophomore guard Randy Davis added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Bobcats (11-10, 2-5 MAC)' were led by junior guard Tommy Freeman with 16 points on 3-of-6 shooting from 3-point range.
Ball State trailed 40-32 at the half and by as many as 11 points, 52-41, at the 8:44 mark in the second half before making its comeback to tie the game at 59 on a Chisholm jumper with 2:54 remaining in regulation.
The Cardinals dominated play in the paint, out-rebounding the Bobcats 44-34 -- including 15-5 on the offensive boards -- and winning the points in the paint 32-24.
