Ball State students compete in technology challenge

Two Ball State University teams made it to the second round in the Cisco Networking Academy NetRiders Skills Challenge, an international competition for Cisco Systems, Inc.

Ball State's Center for Information and Communication Sciences conducted the challenge. The goal of the competition is to create an interactive experience, better classroom learning and encourage students to pursue technology education and training.

Ball State graduate students Ateria Taylor and Michael Wulff administered the program for Indiana. The winning team from Indiana was two Ivy Tech Lafayette students who placed in third overall in the competition.

The challenge was open to post-secondary students that are enrolled in Cisco Certified network associate curriculum from Oct. 12 to Nov. 20 of last year. The competition had more than 10,000 regional participants from 82 countries.

The grand-prize was a trip to Cisco headquarters in San Jose, Calif. The winner also had the opportunity to meet with top company executives and tour the facilities as well as the campus of Stanford University.
