FOOTBALL: Three Cards named second team All-MAC

The Mid-American Conference named three Ball State University players second team All-MAC on Wednesday.

Running back MiQuale Lewis and defensive ends Robert Eddins and Brandon Crawford were honored. It was the third straight year that Crawford was listed as All-MAC and the second for Lewis.

Eddins was honored as an outside linebacker despite starting all 12 games as a defensive end for the Cardinals. He ranked fifth in the conference with seven sacks and third with 13.5 tackles for a loss. He added two blocked punts and three forced fumbles.

Crawford made 11.5 tackles for a loss, the eighth most in the MAC. He finished his Ball State career with 138 tackles and had started the last 39 games.

Lewis ran for 301 yards at Eastern Michigan University, setting a Cardinals' record. He finished the year with 871 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

The MAC also released its postseason awards, led by Central Michigan University quarterback Dan LeFevour. The senior was named the Vern Smith Leadership Award winner and the Offensive Player of the Year.

Temple University took home three awards. Al Golden was named Coach of the Year, running back Bernard Pierce earned Freshman of the Year honors and lineman Adrian Robinson was awarded the Defensive Player of the Year.

Central Michigan wide receiver Antonio Brown was named Special Teams Player of the Year.
