WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ball State wins first two sets vs. Akron

The Ball State University women's volleyball is one set away from advancing to the conference tournament quarterfinals.

The No.  8 seed Ball State defeated the No. 9 seed University of Akron 27-25, 25-19 in the first two sets of its best-of-five Mid-American Conference Tournament match Tuesday at Worthen Arena. 

The Cardinals have three players with at least six kills, including outside attacker Alisha Green who has a team-high seven kills. Akron's Brionna Patterson has a match-high eight kills through the first two sets.

After hitting a .182 attack percentage during its overtime win the first set, Ball State had a .414 attack percentage in the six-point second set victory.

The Zips have a .138 attack percentage in the first two sets.

The winner of this match will play the No. 1 seed Ohio University on Friday night.
