WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ball State sweeps Akron

Cards advance to MAC Tournament quarterfinals

For the second straight season, the Ball State University women's volleyball team will play in the conference tournament quarterfinals.

Ball State defeated the University of Akron 27-25, 25-19, 25-20 in the Mid-American Conference Tournament first round Tuesday night in Worthen Arena.
 
Ball State had five players with at least six kills, including middle attacker Alisha Green who had a team-high 11 kills. Akron's Brionna Patterson led all players with 20 kills.
 
The Cardinals held the Zips to less than .150 attack percentage in each set. Ball State finished the match with a .248 attack percentage and had a .414 attack percentage in the six-point second set victory.
 

With this win, Ball State will advance to play the No. 1 seed and MAC regular season champions Ohio University in the MAC Tournament quarterfinals on Friday night in Toledo, Ohio.
