Here's what was going on around campus

NEWS

'Deserted Campus'
This photo was tweeted during break to @dn_campus. Ball State was pretty empty without the majority of its approximately 20,000 students.

Power Outage
Muncie residents and parts of Ball State's campus, lost power Friday morning, according to Indiana Michigan Power's Web site.
The outage also affected local businesses, including Target and the Muncie Mall.
Power was restored later that afternoon.

Blue Bottle
The Blue Bottle coffeehouse downtown celebrated its expanded restaurant space and menu Friday night. The shop is adding the space from a building next door, increasing available seating by 140 percent. Its new menu will have appetizers, salads, selected sandwiches, desserts and five main entrées.

SPORTS

Football
The Ball State football team ended a sour 2009 season on a high note with a 22-17 win on the road at Western Michigan. The Cardinals ended their season with a 2-10 record just one season after completing the best campaign in school history.

Women's Basketball
The Ball State women's basketball team went 2-1 over Thanksgiving Break, defeating previously-undefeated Valparaiso at home before splitting games on the road, losing at North Dakota State and winning at North Dakota. In the North Dakota game, senior guard Audrey McDonald broke the Ball State career 3-point record.

Men's Basketball
The Ball State men's basketball team entered break with a 2-0 record, but came out 2-2 after losses on the road at Temple and at home to UC-Davis. Freshman guard Jauwan Scaife led the Cardinals in scoring both games as Ball State now enters its toughest stretch of the non-conference schedule with a 7 p.m. tipoff against No. 12 Butler Wednesday at Worthen Arena.
