Office of Health Education promotes Safer Sex Week in Atrium

Jessica Stevens, graduate assistant for the Office of Health Education, has a message she wants to get out for Safer Sex Week.

"There's no such thing as safe sex, there's only safer sex," she said.

The week is Nov.30 - Dec.3 and is sponsored by the Office of Health Education, Eta Sigma Gamma, Spectrum, Meridian Services, and Open Door Family Planning.

Stevens was handing out pamphlets of information about safe sex, free condoms and "condom key chains" -- key chains with a slide out department for a condom -- which she says has been a popular item, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday in the Atrium. Her booth was promoted by a WCRD DJ playing music and awarding prizes to students who answered questions correctly about the week.

One in four college students have an sexual transmitted infection, Stevens said, so students need to be aware of their options.

Safer Sex Week is sponsored by the Office of Health Education, Eta Sigma Gamma, Spectrum, Meridian Services, and Open Door Family Planning.
