University Program Board is showing a double feature of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" tonight, and the later showing is expected to sell out.
UPB president Dillon Kimmel said they would be showing "Harry Potter" at 6 p.m. at the L.A. Pittenger Student Center Ballroom and at 9:30 p.m. in Pruis Hall.
"We're having the first showing in addition to accommodate the unprecedented demand this semester," he said.
The Student Center Ballroom seats about 250 people, depending on how seats are arranged, and Pruis holds about 630, he said.
Kimmel said he urges students to go to the 6 p.m. showing if they can.
Program Director John Speer said he's expecting a full house at Pruis.
"We'll let as many people in as we can until we reach fire code capacity, which is 640," he said.
UPB will use a clicker counter to track how many people go into the auditorium.
Since it is Family Weekend, Kimmel said family members get in free if they are accompanied by a student.
"You can bring as many family members as you want as long as they are with a student who has a valid ID," he said.
Two weeks ago, there were two showings of "The Hangover" and the first one was cut short, but Kimmel doesn't foresee any problems with the showing tonight.
"It started a little late, and we needed to get people out so we could get ready for the next showing," he said. "Since we have two different venues this week, it shouldn't be a problem."
Speer believes UPB has done well this semester and he's seen a broad spectrum of younger students and upperclassmen at Friday Night Filmworks.
"Attendance is definitely up from last year," he said. "When you're already selling out, you can't really say numbers are going up because there's nowhere else to go from there."
