Glick Center construction could cost $1.5 to $3 million

Ball State University is accepting construction bids for the Marilyn K. Glick Center for Glass until 2 p.m. Oct. 22.

The Glick Center's building projects consist of faculty offices, classrooms, studio spaces, a hot glass shop and a cold glass shop and will include geothermal construction, according to a notice to bidders.

Greg Graham, interim director of Facilities, Planning and Management, said the university is anticipating construction costs will be between $1.5 million and $3 million.

"We're trying to find the company that will give us the best bid [for] the quality of work at the price," he said.

After bidding closes, Graham said it will take Ball State about two weeks to choose a bid because the university needs to investigate them. The Glick Center project is intended to be ready for classes by Fall 2010, he said.
