For the second week in a row the Ball State University defense has been burned by big plays.
After the University of Toledo was forced back to their own five-yard line on a botched snap, quarterback Aaron Opelt led the visitors 95 yards for a touchdown and a 14-13 lead at halftime.
The Rockets used a 50 yard pass to convert a long third down and eventually found the end zone with an eight-yard pass to tight end Tom Burzine.
Ball State University had a 13-7 lead earlier in the quarter. The Cardinals moved ahead on Kelly Page's seven-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Briggs Orsbon. That completed a 15-play, 84-yard drive, the longest of the season for Ball State.
At halftime Page is 15-for-20 for 129 yards and a touchdown. He has already passed his passing yards from last week's game at Auburn University. Freshman Eric Williams has a game-high 31 rushing yards, most coming out of the Wildcat formation. Wide recover Briggs Orsbon leads the Cardinals with eight receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown.
Toledo quarterback Aaron Opelt is 15-for-19 for 212 yards and two touchdowns. Freshman wide receiver Eric Page has six receptions for 113 yards and a touchdown.
