The course withdrawal period for Fall Semester classes will end today at 5 p.m.
If a student misses this deadline, Academic Schedule Supervisor Monica Roberts said, he or she will have to get permission from the course instructor and the dean of the department, which can be more of a hassle.
To withdraw from a class, Roberts said students should first consider consulting with their professor.
Students should then pick up and fill out a withdrawal form from Lucina Hall Room B43.
Complete forms can be dropped off at the registration window in the same office. Forms must be dropped off by 5 p.m., but Roberts said students should consider doing this earlier in the day because of the possibility of a large crowd in late afternoon.
"At this time of year, [dropping a class] is common," she said.
Once these steps have been taken, students have successfully dropped a class. Roberts said a "W" will appear on transcripts, but dropping a class won't affect a student's GPA.
Only students enrolled in online classes can drop classes electronically by going to the Distance Education Web site at bsu.edu/distance.
